The colours of all the different types of wood, the sinuous patterns of veining and knots, even the signs of time and of natural agents. Just like people, every tree is different from the rest and its story is unique in the world. Tabula selects tree trunks one by one and enhances the charm of their life story, their provenance and their wood, to create pieces that are equally unique.
We use naturally fallen trees that have reached the end of their life cycle or have been felled for reasons of safety. We also acquire trunks from certain areas of the world only, to avoid damaging forest heritage. Often, it regards tree species that are not used by the woodworking industry, this is why this raw material would be wasted. Instead, we exploit it and give it new life.
Each of our creations is different from the others, because their design follows the natural forms of the trunk. And behind every single creation is a slow process of seasoning and stabilising the wood, of perfect sanding and hours and hours of manual work. This is why their beauty is timeless and decorates any space – from dining room to living room, to professional and commercial settings.
We do not have a catalogue of standard products – instead, we create just a few pieces each year and we can customise our pieces totally. Our very precious creations start from one single plank of seasoned wood, or we can combine more than one plank into a single top, always guaranteeing the most beautiful results and lasting stability.
