TABULA BASES
For an optimal pairing with our wooden tops, we create custom-made bases with artisanal care and great sensitivity for ergonomics and design. Each time, we create a personalized base, adapting it to the dimensions, irregularities, cracks, and any resinous parts of the chosen wooden top. Of course, we also take into account your desires and preferences.
THE MT 01 COLLECTION BASES
DESIGNED BY MICHELE TAVANOThe first collection of Tabula table bases was born from the collaboration with architect Michele Tavano.
“During the design and prototyping phases of the Tabula table bases, there were many challenges. I had to consider the varying dimensions of the tabletops, their often significant weight, and their extraordinary uniqueness. The base object had to support but not overpower the natural beauty of the wood.
Research and study led me to create a structurally modular metal base. It can withstand different stresses through a series of blades of different sizes, oriented in different directions. In any dimension, the set is very stable and yet, at the same time, light and permeable to the eye.
I wanted the base to be a discreet presence, while still having its own personality. A base like this, according to my intention, highlights the tabletop designed by Nature and, at the same time, makes evident the harmony of the constant dialogue with Man.
I designed it in four colors (gold, burgundy, black, and white) that enhance the wood’s veins and texture and can be perfectly inserted in any context. Upon request, the base can be made in other colors.”
The MTD 01 base is among the winners of the BIG SEE Product Design Award 2023, and is nominated for the Grand Prix in the Home category.

MODULAR SYSTEM
“I designed for Tabula a modular and high-performing system, capable of adapting to the many possible sizes of the tabletops and, at the same time, offering great stability and load-bearing capacity to the tables. In fact, I dematerialized the physical presence of the bases, making the perception of their lines and shapes different depending on the different point of observation.”
