Chestnut
Very durable wood, with fine grain patterns.

Native to Southern Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia, the Chestnut tree has spread widely along the Atlantic coasts of Morocco, the shores of the Caspian Sea, and the south of England, adapting easily to various thermal conditions, even to harsh temperatures below zero.
It is a very long-lived tree, belonging to the Fagaceae family. It has a rounded canopy, a columnar trunk, and smooth, shiny bark with a brown color tending towards gray.
Chestnut wood has the great advantage of having the lowest coefficient of swelling and shrinkage. However, it must be dried slowly as it is prone to cracking and distortion.
It is used for flooring, rustic furniture, slats, and in tanning leather due to its high tannin content.
It withstands weather well, making it suitable for outdoor constructions, window frames, and railway sleepers.
