American Canaletto Walnut
A valuable wood for its elegant aesthetics and technical qualities.

Native to North America but imported to Europe since the last century, the American Walnut is also known as Black Walnut, referencing the channels that distribute chlorophyll throughout the tree’s trunk. Despite the nuts being hard to crack, they were a food source for Native Americans, who also used its wood to make flutes and tribal objects. It is an allelopathic plant, meaning it has the characteristic of releasing substances that inhibit the growth of other plants around its roots.
Always considered a precious wood for its elegant aesthetics and technical qualities, American Walnut is used to make furniture, flooring, airplane propellers, gun grips, and is traditionally employed in piano construction. Its dark brown color tends to lighten slightly over time.
